Event Description:

The 2020 Annual Work Report of the Chinese Government praised the role played by digital economy, especially during the recent battle against COVID-19, and encouraged to“create a new advantage of the digital economy. 

As this new wind is blowing across the world, EU-China Joint Innovation Center(EUCJIC), China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China, China IPR SME Helpdesk and other 3 organizations jointly organize a webinar focuses on IP-related policies and industrial/technological development in the digital economy.  

The leading experts from both Europe and China are invited to share their expertise on the status quo, recent policies and future directions of the digital economy, which would shed light on the new technologies, IP protection measures and application rules in the newly-emerged IP industrial services.

During this webinar, China IPR SME Helpdesk external expert Mr. Michele Ferrante will discuss the experiences of EU SMEs with IP protection in China’s digital economy.

Mr. Michele Ferrante. Mr. Michele Ferrante is the founding and Managing Partner of FERRANTE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY and an external expert at China IPR SME Helpdesk. Mr. Ferrante is a lawyer admitted to the Milan Bar: he started his career in the same city practicing corporate law and intellectual property law. He also practiced in the UK and France in different fields. Since 1999, the main focus of Michele’s practice is advising high-profile foreign companies in the protection of their IP rights and design tailor made anti-counterfeit strategies in China. He assists Fortune 500 companies in developing and enforcing brand protection strategies in PRC. Michele regularly speaks at international IP conferences and has written articles on IP issues published in different international magazines. He speaks Italian, English, French and Spanish.


Mr. Hugo Wang. Mr. Hugo Wang is Director of Chinese Intellectual Property Research Association, Honorary President of the Shenzhen Patent Association and Vice Chairman of the Committee of Experts, selected experts in National Intellectual Property experts library, selected in the first batch of National Intellectual Property Leaders, The top Ten Influential Figure of 2014 National Intellectual Property (patent) etc., he was the Founder of the Chinese Famous Enterprises Intellectual Property Manager Sharon and Chairman of the rotating presidency for three times. Shenzhen high-level local talents leader, Leading Talents of Nanshan District, Shenzhen. He is employed the tutor outside many universities or institutions, part-time Professor, and professional mediators of CIETAC South China Sub-Commission, Arbitrator of Shenzhen arbitration commission and Guangzhou arbitration commission, the management leadership talents with science and engineering background, law and management degrees. At the same time, he has patent agent, lawyer, professor, specially-appointed professor for many universities and others.

Dr. Hugo Wang belongs to large-scale enterprise Intellectual Property management combat school, with a wealth of enterprise Intellectual Property management experience, years of work experience in the world's leading Internet enterprises, with rich operating practices of deeply understanding Europe, the United States, China's legal environment and patent applications, layout, authorization, value assessment, licensing negotiations, patent litigation and other processes. At the beginning of 2016, Shenzhen Techvisum Technologies Limited (STTL) was formally established. Led by Dr. Hugo Wang, Tencent, HUAWEI, BYD and SKYWORTH and other well-known enterprises in charge of intellectual property managers Co-founded. STTL focus on the field of intellectual property area. Ms. Yuanqing Chen, Worldwide Legal and Director of Intellectual Property, Lenovo Group. Ms. Chen, owning double education background in science & engineering and legislation, is currently in charge of Lenovo’s patent business in China. Established and improved the management system of Lenovo in China, she also monitored and participated in several acquisitions and integrations of outbound patents as well as business. Chen Yuanqing gives impetus to make patents being highly valued both in and out of Lenovo and will continue to exert greater influence in the field. Under her guidance, Lenovo intellectual property team won the title of “China IP Champion” and “ Asia IP Elite” for several times, which awarded by IAM, the worldwide magazine. Chen Yuanqing herself has been awarded the “China outstanding Intellectual Property Manager “ in 2012, “China Intellectual Property Leading Person-Distinguished Prosecution Award “ in 2013 and “Zhongguancun Innovation Leading Person “ in 2015. In 2016, State Intellectual Property Office granted her the award of “Annual Advanced Individual of Intellectual Property Work in Enterprises “. In 2018, as the only business representative, she attended and spoke at the meeting of “Reform and Opening up and the Development of Intellectual Property in China” In addition, she was invited by WIPO to attend the meetings and make keynote speech on behalf of Chinese enterprises for several times. Meanwhile, Chen Yuanqing is also the off-campus Mentor of Postgraduate students in Beijing Technology and Business University and University of Science and Technology Beijing.


Mr. Joe Huang, Director of EU-China International IPR Center, EUCJIC. Honor: Consultant of THCA, Deputy Secretary of SETA. Education: PhD Candidate of Graduate School of Technology management of Institute of Industrial Economics, Jinan University, Guangdong Province, China. Experience: Patent Executive and other Executives in Kingstar Business Group, Hon Hai/Foxconn Technology Group, Haier Group from October, 1998 to 2008, founded PIIP in 2006 in conjunction with other business partners. Practice Field: Patent Transaction, Patent Asset Management.
