A patent is an exclusive legal right granted to the applicant for an invention or a new design. It gives the patent owner the right to prevent others from using the patented material for a limited length of time. It is the main legal tool for preventing your technology from being copied.
A patent is a territorial right. In other words, if you don’t have a patent in the country where the infringement is taking place, you will have significantly limited options to enforce your rights.
This module will provide an introduction to the types of patent protection available in China, and how you can register and use those patents.
