The China IPR SME Helpdesk and the Dutch Design Workspace invite you to an interactive evening on market and IP advice for the Creative Industries. Expanding into the Chinese domestic market represents an exciting opportunity for European SMEs in the creative field to reap additional profits, but what are the right steps that your company should take to internationalise to China? This seminar will provide you with the answers and will include:
- Experiences shared by a European creative company active in Shanghai
- A presentation addressing important IP tools for protecting design, brands and products, which will provide you with strategies to effectively manage your IP assets in China
- Get the opportunity to discuss your own design and protection tools with the Helpdesk expert during a one-on-one IPR consultation session

He Fang, Partner & Head of Dispute Resolution, Rouse
He Fang is a senior litigator and leads the firm’s dispute resolution team in Shanghai. He holds a Master of Laws degree at the London School of Economics & Political Science at the University of London. Before joining Rouse, He Fang was with Clifford Chance’s Hong Kong and Shanghai offices. He also spent several years as an IP litigator with Shanghai Patent & Trademark Law Office. He Fang’s experience includes advice and advocacy for a range of IP right holders across the industries. He has substantial China litigation and enforcement experience and significant advocacy experience in the PRC Courts. His achievements include a number of landmark IP cases, such as the first declaration for non-infringement of trade marks in China and the first preliminary injunction award for design patent in Zhejiang Province. He is particularly strong in the areas of trade mark, trade dress and copyright having successfully advocated for a number of clients in several high profile or award winning cases (including two of Top 50 IP Cases in China as judged by the Supreme People’s Court in 2009).
Registration and cancellation
China IPR SME Helpdesk events are only open to European Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and SME intermediary organisations such as embassies and consulates, chambers of commerce and trade associations. This event is closed to law firms and business consultants. If you meet the criteria and would like to attend please register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with the name and date of the event in the subject line and your company information. You will receive a confirmation e-mail. Because seating is limited, in the case of unexpected cancellation please inform the Helpdesk as soon as possible.

About the Dutch Design Workspace
A permanent platform for Dutch Design in China has been established in 2010 with the opening of the Dutch Design Workspace (DDWS). This creative incubator programme houses a variety of Dutch design companies entering the challenging Chinese market. DDWS is supported by Dutch Design Fashion Architecture (DutchDFA) and offers a soft landing for Dutch design brands in China by supporting them with shared office space in the city centre of Shanghai and a special team that provides support, based on the business planning of each participant.
